Each of us has a story to tell. There are things seen on the outside that are exposed to anyone’s eyes. However, on a deeper level, there are always untold events and emotions that the individual holds.

The series Maternal instincts addresses the exploration of maternal relationships through object making. Relationships are complex and fragile, and like the people who I interviewed, vastly different objects can represent a maternal relationship with one's mother; and all have diverse and unique experiences.   In this endeavor, I explore my own connections to the people who have been maternal figures to me, and seek the meaning of hidden experiences that can only be seen by the wearer.
