Since her student years, she understands architecture as a cultural discipline, as a process of thinking and creation and as an interdisciplinary and integrate design activity that involves many fields of knowledge.
During nearly 20 years of practice in her own office (Estudio Fullaondo /In Fact Arquitectura), she has designed and developed all kind of projects, from urban design to furniture construction. This experience is always present in her academic activity, where she teaches similar approaches and methods to those she experiments with in her practice.
Her major fields of research are design, visual communication and the intersections between architecture, design and art. Lately, her main research line deals with teaching methodologies that are directly related to the processes of design, drawing and creation in order to bring some transparency to design processes. She is author of several books on this matter. She has combined her activity as a practitioner with the production of graphic art, graphic design, book edition, and data visualization and her work has been exhibited in several countries.

Estudio Fullaondo, The restoration of a small Chapel: Ceiling, Lighting and Altar
Nuesta Señora del Recuerdo High School, Madrid, Spain
We were asked to solve a leaking problem in the ceiling and to improve the lighting of this chapel. This project was an architectural interpretation of the work of a Spanish artist, Pablo Palazuelo. We proposed a very dynamic ceiling with different sections hiding all the lights from the public’s view. We also designed the altar, the main piece of furniture of the chapel, as a negative of the ceiling.

Ciro Márquez & María Asunción Salgado, Fórmulas tipológicas del desarrollo espacial. Tomo 1. Los Sistemas Racionales
Mairea, Madrid 2011
This book is a research project focused on a specific design methodology to approach the design process in a way that it combines three different fields: maths, geometry and architecture. Most of this research was based on our experience in Design Studio. We worked with six topics which defined the process.
• Measure and Proportion • Module and Structure • Geometric Transformations • Number Investigations • Combinatorics • Chance and order
María Fullaondo & Ciro Márquez, The Drawing Bazaar
Contributors: Javier Boned, Alfredo Calosci, Diego Fullaondo, María López, Perry Kulper, Fernando G. Valderrama
The book aims to accomplish three objectives: (1) To systematize and communicate the linguistic-graphic strategies working in a drawing in order to make them available to the student. (2) The book recuperates several drawing options and potentials in all and each of the phases and intentions of an architectural project. (3) Finally, The Drawing Bazaar as a whole is a strong claim for the relevance and autonomy of drawing as a language.
