I have chosen to explore theatrical photography through the use of props, composition, make-up and lighting. I have created a modernized version of the popular board game ‘Cluedo’, in which players need to determine the killer, weapon of choice and location of the killing. It was my intention to create scenes which do appear staged – through the use of lighting, which has been highly contrasted, casting bold shadows behind the killer, also theatrical use of make-up on the victims, and the use of props, including weapons such as a gun, axe, walking stick and rope. Issues of identity and role play are questioned throughout my work.
