Bus stops are places of shelter from rain and sun, places of meeting, arrivals and departures. They can also be targets of terrorist attacks; this has been and continues to be the case in Israel. Terrorism also challenges complex efforts to build trust and peace between Israelis and Palestinians, between Israel and her Arab neighbours generally.

My work enters this fraught arena through the simple motif of waiting for the bus. Despite the potential threat, countless people continue to ride the buses throughout Israel daily. By using oil paint on glass and exploring light and shadow, my series of paintings bears witness to and explores the tensions, human connections, defiance and resilience inherent in this complex situation.
