The landscape of Dandenong is currently being reshaped through an urban renewal project. Urban renewal is desirable when it is sympathetic to the aspirations of those who live there. An affective museum is one that has its emphasis on collecting, cataloguing and exhibiting, 'attitudes' rather than facts and objects. Rather than have the present and past erased the residents claim their city and so are included in the urban renewal and inappropriate gentrification is avoided. This design proposes an affective museum by adapting a former church centre to create a dialogue between the residents and those who live outside who may come to experience the unique aspects of Dandenong.
