Exploring the relationship between food, architecture and claiming space, I aim to uncover and challenge the existing preconceptions surrounding the concepts of the performativity of food and sharing a meal (including what it means to not share) whilst considering the construction of space.

Incorporating the findings with the potentiality of an event or experience by briefly taking claim over Racing Club Lane in Melbourne’s CBD, the informal eatery is designed to transform the banal everyday act of ‘lunch’, as conducted by office workers in the city, into a shared experience that offers insight into the existing performativity and territoriality (or lack thereof) of the eating experience.
