Exploring the formation of a new and more pedestrian friendly transition zone within Caribbean Gardens, in the outer eastern suburb of Scoresby.

Locating the project on an existing carpark, offers the opportunity to make greater connections between the various activities on the site. The focus is not only on movement through this space but with an emphasis on generating an environment to encourage visitors to stay and occupy. A zone connecting and catering to a diverse range of people and establishing a stronger relationship between indoor and outdoor areas. An investigation driven by placing greater emphasis on the circulation and in-between spaces, through the exploration of a linear typology. By challenging the conventional layout of a building, programs can be broken up and reorganised in a linear way. The arrangement of spaces along a line articulates an edge condition, framing and activating the surroundings.
